| Bath Hints |
- Bath tubs are manufactured from porcelain enamel on steel or fibreglass
reinforced acrylic sheet. They range in lengths from 1200mm through
to 1800mm with the most popular being 1525mm and 1675mm. The widths
are approximately 750mm.
- The porcelain enamel has a tough scratch resistant surface.
- The outlet size on all new models is 40mm which replaces the old 50mm.
Matching outlets are available in a select range.
- Standard baths have a depth of 330mm, deeper baths up to 420mm are
available in a select range.
- The installation varies on the bath selected. Enamel steel should
be totally suspended on the walls and framework built around the bath.
The base should not come in contact with the floor. A sealing rim of
25mm approximately around the perimeter is recessed into adjacent walls,
so as to allow the wall sheeting and tiles to create a waterproof joint.
Full installation instructions are provided with every bath available
before installation commences.
- Cleaning is a simple procedure - just wipe over with a damp cloth
and mild liquid cleaner.

| Bathroom Accessory Hints |
- It's always best to install some timber for fixing before sheeting
your walls.
- When designing your bathroom organise the positions for the accessories,
especially towel rails. Don't make the mistake of trying to find room
for them later.
- If space is a premium, a double towel rail could solve your problems.

 |
| Hot Water Systems |
- The night rate off-peak tariff is the most economical. Heating of
water is restricted to the hours of 11pm to 7am. This would be the best
choice if available in your area. Minimum size for off-peak units is
250 ltr but 315 ltr is recommended for an average size family.
- Most systems can be installed either indoor or outdoor.
- Although units are available in outdoor models, the unit would be best installed in an
enclosure. This reduces the running cost, maintenance and lengthens the life of the hot water
unit. Remember to leave enough room for maintenance.
- To abide by most Water Board Authorities, three valves are required. Duo Valve, Pressure
Limiting and Cold Water Relief. Consult North Coast Plumbing staff ( or your plumbing supplier )
for the correct pressure setting valves for your requirements.

 |
| Laundry Tub Hints |
- Laundry tubs are available in 46 ltr and 70 ltr capacity. These can
be either single or double bowl or a combination of each ( left or right
hand ) and are available in either tub and cabinet or inset type.
- Check the length of your selection and ensure that the tap combination
in mounted centrally. The height of laundry tubs is 885mm.
- To extend the life of your metal cabinet, it may be placed on a timber
frame 30mm - 40 mm high.
- A tile upstand is supplied to the back edge for splashback sealing
in the tub and cabinet combination.
- Jif is ideal for cleaning all stainless steel surfaces.
 |
 |
| Mixer Tap Hints |
- To accommodate a mixer, ensure your sink or basin has a 32mm single tap hole.
- 10mm x half inch compression fittings are required to connect mixers.
- If the tap is to be serviced, it is possible to fit isolating stop
cocks before the tap, so as not to disturb the water supply to the rest of the house.
- Where the low or fluctuating water pressures exist, please check with
North Coast Plumbing's ( or your plumbing supplier ) sale staff before you purchase.
- When installing recessed shower/bath mixers, the body is to be installed
in the wall prior to sheeting.

| Shower Cubicle and Tray Hints |
- Always be aware of the waste outlet position as it may foul timber
supports and beams. Option of centre and rear positions are available on some trays.
- In concrete floor installations, the pipework will have to be placed
in the correct position so as to couple up with the waste outlet.
- Shower screens, either sliding or the increasingly popular pivot door,
can be installed on most shower enclosures.
- Before ordering a shower cubicle, ensure you have clear access through
all doorways etc. to carry the cubicle to your required position.
- The most popular shower tray size is 900mm x 900mm. Other sizes such
as 1200mm x 900mm and 1000mm x 1000mm are available.
- Shower trays may be installed directly onto concrete or timber floors
and require 50mm PVC piping for drainage.
 |
 |
| Sink Hints |
- Sinks can be purchased in a multitude of materials, lengths and bowl patterns.
- If installing a dishwasher, we suggest the draining tray be positioned
directly above the dishwasher.
- If you have largish sized cooking utensils, consider the depth and shape of the bowls.
- Accommodation for tapware, waste disposal, detergent and hot water
dispensers can be ordered at no extra cost.
- The joint between the sink and benchtop should be sealed with a suitable sealant.

 |
| Spa Bath Hints |
- One of the most important items to consider when installing a spa is the position of the pump.
Ideally, it should be - located to offer easy access for maintenance - situated as close as practical
to the spa - located at a height to enable the water to self drain into the bath when not in use.
- Suggested positions could be adjoining wardrobes, vanity units, outside
the building or mounted under the spa with an access panel provided for maintenance.
- An air switch is supplied to allow you to control the operation of the bath with safety. A
standard power point next to the pump is all that is required for electrical connections.
- Spa baths are manufactured from fibreglass reinforced acrylic sheet, vacuum moulded to the
desired shape. This shell, as it is called, is plumbed and tested during manufacture. The plumbers
only need to connect the bath pipework to the pump and all is done. For ease of installation, a
fully connected pump system on a steel frame with adjustable feet is also available at no extra cost.
- The jets can be colour, chrome or gold to match your tapware and accessories.
- Remember the size of your hot water system should be varied to the size of the spa purchased.
In most cases a 250 ltr - 400 ltr off peak would be required.

 |
| Tap Hints |
- Most tapware has the option of washerless construction. The quarter or half turn on-off control
is by means of two ceramic discs. They are effortless to use and ideal for arthritic problems.
Before installing these read the installation instructions first.
- If requiring a hob style bath spout ensure that a spout suitable in
length and design is available before installation commences.
- To enhance your tapware, waste outlets in metal finishes and pastel colours are available.
- When selecting a hand shower for over a bath, a backflow valve should
be installed to prevent water accidentally being siphoned back into the water supply.
- The selection of a hand shower is ideal for hair rinsing and the clearing of shower/bath recesses.

 |
| Toilet Suite Hints |
- For most sewered areas, water efficient dual flush suites are now
mandatory - full flush for solid waste and half flush for liquid.
- Always inform your builder or plumber of your selection before plumbing
or drainage work commences as some suites have specified set out dimensions
for the pan outlet. This should be especially noted if you have a concrete floor.
- The term S trap indicates that the an outlet bends to go through the
floor, where the wall outlet is called a P trap.
- Septic toilet suites could be required if you are installing in a
country area. We recommend you consult your local plumbing authority
to ensure you purchase the correct suite required. Septic toilets cisterns
require an external overflow.
- For the best in quality, a vitreous china suite retains its new appearance for many years.
- Don't forget to enhance your bathroom with a matching coloured toilet
roll holder and cisterns cock.
- If noise is of concern, optional super quiet inlet valves are available
that reduce the noise level when the cistern is refilling.
- A good quality toilet seat should follow the same lines as the pan
e.g. if the pan has a round or square front, a similar design seat should be selected if possible.
 |
 |
| Vanity Units Hints |
- Vanity units are available in any size up to 2500mm with double bowls
1500mm and over. The position of the bowl and number of tapholes is
variable to your own requirements.
- Units, where a narrow wing extends over the bath are very popular
and can be made to suit most situations.
- If replacing an existing unit, noting the details of existing pipework
could save you hours of work. The option of left or right hand drawers
could be of advantage.
- Consider corner design units which range from 600mmm to 1200mm x 1200mm,
if you are trying to save space.
 |
 |
| Waste Disposal & Hot Water Dispenser Hints |
- Always remember to use only cold water during disposer operation.
- A standard 10 amp power point under the sink with an above - sink
isolating switch is all that is required for electrical connection.
- Disposers may be installed in new or existing single or double bowl sinks.
- In Sink - Erator hot water dispensers cost less to operate than a
40 watt light bulb. That is equivalent to heating a kettle 3 times a
day, and unlike a jug, you don't have to wait for your steaming hot water.
