Do you know what paint is used for what?

If not this information will help you decide.

Primer

Primer is good for surfaces which are exposed to the elements. It helps prevent corrosion (rust), and provides a sound base for a top coat. Oil or water based primers do work best with similarly based top coats. Remember it is a base coat only.

Sealer

For interiors, a sealer seals porous surfaces to stop top coats from seeping in. It also seals stains to stop top coat contamination.

Sealer Binder

Once again seals porous surfaces and stains with the binding elements holding crumbling surfaces together.

Undercoat

Fills minor imperfections and can hide previous colour. Using an undercoat isn't always necessary but can provide a quality finish.

Acrylic Sealer Undercoat

Does the sealing and undercoating in one. Is good to use on new plasterboard interior walls and timber.

Oil Based Undercoat

Use over a gloss paint if your top coat is water based.

Mould Preventing Paint

Most paints do have a mould inhibitor included so only needed in poorly ventilated rooms or cupboards.

Matt

Matt paints is good for kids rooms as it is good for hiding defects. Best using a water based, low odour paint for kids rooms.

Gloss

Gloss is good in bathrooms, kitchens and is best for handrails, doors and windows as it is tougher than Matt paint, but it does highlight surface defects so surface preparation is recommended. Gloss is not usually used on walls.
