Fastwood, a revolution in timber flooring, is a lifestyle choice and has something to suit everyone. Environmentally conscious renovators now have a beautiful timber flooring option with Fastwood. The Fastwood range uses predominantly Australian timbers including Jarrah, Karri, Mountain Ash and Rosegum. It is the only product that is specifically manufactured for Australian conditions.
Easy to install
Fastwood is a pre-finished natural hardwood floor, it has the same amount of re-sandable timber as a traditional timber floor, but uses 66 per cent less of our precious hardwoods. Fastwood can be installed as easily as laying carpet, and it can be laid over almost any firm level surface, for example concrete slab, particle board, timber and even existing ceramics. Discerning Australian home owners are now realising the benefits of having a Fastwood flooring system installed. What this means is that you now have the option of a beautiful Australian hardwood floor, where previously budget, time or environmental worries may have ruled it out. And they are all very powerful motivators, so you can understand why Fastwood flooring is increasingly popular.
A prudent use of valuable hardwoods
Fastwood is manufactured with three layers of bonded wood. The top layer is of high quality hardwood, and the two underlayers are of plantation grown timbers. Each plank is tongue and grooved and end matched and there is no need for on site acclimatisation, it is installed directly from the pack. This process of manufacture is a prudent use of valuable hardwoods. It is environmentally friendly and it also produces an extremely stable and hard wearing product.
The underlay aspect
The secret of Fastwoods silence is that it is laid over Fastwoods recommended underlay. This underlay is an essential component of the flooring system, it helps smooth over minor imperfections in the subfloor, protects against water vapour and dampness, and helps to absorb impact noise providing an almost imperceptible but important softness underfoot. It has the highest absorption rate in Australia, which makes it particularly suitable in multi level applications, such as apartments, where noise absorption is critical. Finished with 6 layers of UV cured lacquer, Fastwood has a resilient, easy to care for surface durable enough for commercial applications. Fastwood is covered by a Lifetime Structural Warranty and a 10 year (limited) surface warranty.
Environmentally Friendly
In tune with community values, all the environmental aspects have been carefully considered in the production of Fastwood. All the wood comes from sustainable forest programs. All waste wood is recycled and even the fine sawdust is used for the production of energy. This lacquer contains no formaldehyde. As it is pre-finished, there is no need for sanding or lacquering on site, so there is no messy dust or toxic fumes. It is ideal for the fast turnaround and instant use so often required in renovations. The quick laying time also means your labour costs are drastically reduced. The Australian timbers truly live up to their description as hardwoods. The hardest of the American and European timbers is Oak. Comparatively speaking, Karri and Jarrah are 50 per cent harder again, ensuring longevity as a flooring product. They also offer a magnificent depth and richness of warm colourings that simply cannot be matched by other timbers.
