Cardboard Recycling

Thanks to Brisbane City Council all cardboard can now live again. In the past, cardboard has not been recyclable but since 1 December 1999 you can help protect our future by putting all cereal and pizza boxes, milk cartons, shoe boxes and all other cardboard and paper items into the yellow lid recycling bin.

The launch of the cardboard recycling program is another example of Council's commitment to environmentally responsible waste management.

It is estimated that over one year about 12,000 tonnes or cardboard and paper will be collected and transported to a Brisbane factory to be recycled into other cardboard and paper products.

That 12,000 tonnes of recycled cardboard and paper could potentially save:

Bin Dividers

Disorganise your bin! If you live on the Northside, you can now ignore the recycling bin dividers. From December 1, 1999 you won't need to file your recycling into separate sides of the recycling bin. Now your bin can be how it was meant to be - totally disorganised.
