Seedlings

Is your garden looking lifeless and colourless. Would you like it to be plush and colourful? By following these steps you too can have a beautiful garden.

  1. Choose plants that are suited to your climate and location. Your local nursery or our helpful team at Perrott's Nursery can help you choose.

  2. Feed the soil. By preparing your soil in advance and making sure it is ready for planting can be a huge help. By using organic matters such as compost, blood and bone, manure your plants will thrive.

  3. Once you have planted your seedlings a good mulching is the next best step. Make sure you have a good quality mulch.

  4. As seedlings have very small root systems when young they need to be kept well watered, but not water logged. Make sure they don't dry out for any length of time. The best method is to give the soil a deep watering so to encourage the roots to grow deep in the soil.

  5. Even though you prepared your soil before planting fertilising is still necessary, especially for annuals as they are heavy feeders and to obtain their best growth need fertilising. Liquid fertiliser is the best method for this and is best done when first planted then approximately every two to three weeks.
