Door knobs that keep loosening on the spindle
This an annoying problem, caused by some worn parts but is usually easy to fix. You probably just need to replace the spindle and/or set screws. Considering that these devices have probably served their function tirelessly for many years now, it's not surprising that they would become a little worn.
As the threads get stripped, the knob constantly loosens, no matter how much you tighten the set screw. In most hardware stores you should be able to find a wide choice of replacement spindles and set screw, one of which is probably just right for the job.
A quick note, if replacing the spindles and set screws doesn't do the job, your knob may be stripped. To remedy this, you will either need to have the knob retapped, or replaced all together.
Loose or Spinning Glass Knobs
Got a few sets of glass knobs with the knobs coming loose from the brass base? Try this trick.
Mix up a batch of clear epoxy. Using a toothpick, apply the epoxy around the base where the glass and the metal meet.
Allow to dry and reinstall your knobs. This trick won't fix the problem permanently, but it may hold you over until you can replace the knobs.
