Most new items in Polished Brass have a clear lacquer coating to protect the finish. Without this coating, brass would begin to tarnish almost immediately. Problem is, the lacquer coating itself breaks down over time.
You can greatly extend the life of your lacquered brass product, however, with a little maintenance. Much like the clear coat on your car, using wax will protect the lacquer from the elements.
We recommend Kiwi neutral shoe polish, but any clear wax will do. Every couple of months or so, rub a little wax on your brass, and using a soft cloth, buff it up to a nice shine. You'll be surprised how much longer your finish lasts.
